Daja E. Henry is an award-winning bilingual journalist based in Jackson, Mississippi. She specializes in telling stories about race and equity across platforms. She currently does so as a staff writer at The Marshall Project. Some of her work has included coverage of police brutality, environmental justice communities throughout the South and gun violence in her hometown, New Orleans. In her coverage, she centers marginalized voices and uses data to quantify disparities.
Her work has taken her throughout the U.S., Europe and Latin America. She holds degrees in journalism from the Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. In her free time, she enjoys researching her family history, traveling and curating her Boosktagram account, @bookinonabudget.
